Katie Holmes’s latest fall look is a lesson in subtle print mixing.
The actor stepped out in New York City yesterday in a breezy start-of-autumn fit that involved layering two floral prints. Somehow, she made it work.
The first floral piece was a white top with a painterly red-and-orange flower print. Rather than pairing it with pants or a skirt, Holmes wore the top under an airy dress in two different soft pink hues. The piece featured a powder-pink layer floating above a longer Barbie pink layer printed with white-and-blue flower illustrations. And the floral theme didn’t end there, as the actor was carrying a bouquet of red flowers.
Over the dress, Holmes added another layer to stay warm—a cropped blue denim jacket with breast pockets. For footwear, she opted for comfort, choosing Birdies’ new beige suede Crane flats.
The Dawson’s Creek alum had on natural makeup and wore her straight hair down. Her only accessory seemed to be a dainty gold necklace.

Holmes’s flirty day look is one of her dressiest this season, as the actor usually likes to keep things casual in plain tees, jeans, and sneakers. Last week, she even stepped out in an Eras Tour T-shirt printed with Taylor Swift’s face in black-and-white all over. Per a conversation she had with Bazaar.com last year, it’s likely Holmes will add the tour merch to her ample tee collection. “I love my T-shirts, and I love my vintage T-shirts. They’re so yummy. They’re a little dirty, a little stained or whatever, and that’s me,” the Coda star said at the time.
