In 2019, she was placed in the care of her half-sister Lauryn "Pumpkin" Efird amid her mother's struggles with addiction and was then granted full custody in June 2022.

“Alana made that choice to stay in that environment,” June said in a 2022 interview with PageSix.

She added: "People don’t understand the custody thing. It’s not like somebody ‘lost custody.’ In the state of Georgia, you do temporary guardianship every year and [Alana] had been with [Lauryn] in my addiction.

"At the age of 12, you’re able to make your choice.”

June went on to note that she has "good" relationships with all of her daughters, including Jessica Shannon and Anna Cardwell, and while she might not live with Alana the pair communicate frequently.

"I do see her, I do talk to her. We do communicate," she told the outlet.

"So it wasn’t like any difference. The only difference is she’s not sitting right here beside me in my home every day.”

Along with being awarded custody, the courts also ordered June to pay Lauryn $800 a month in child support until she turns 18 in August 2023, PageSix notes.

Does Honey Boo Boo have a boyfriend?

In September 2021, Alan went public with her relationship with Dralin Carswell.

While not much is known about his personal life, a source told The U.S. Sun that he is a college student.

He previously attended a Nashville technical school before the Covid-19 pandemic began but now resides in Georgia near Alana.

At first, fans loved seeing Alana happy amid all the drama with her mom, but their opinions of her relationship quickly changed after they discovered the age difference between them.

Alana began dating Dralin when she was 16 and he was 21.

Despite the age gap, Alana revealed during an interview with Entertainment Tonight that her family supports her relationship.

"In our relationship, the two most things that everybody is always talking about is our age gap and definitely because he's Black and I’m white and we're an interracial couple," Alana said.

"I don’t care because, like, at the end of the day, my sister approves, his mom approves, and we're happy, so what fans got to say or what haters got to say I don’t really care."

Pumpkin confirmed her sister's claims, revealing that she thinks her sister is emotionally mature enough to date an older man.

"She’s not getting married, she’s not having a kid, she's doing very good in school," Pumpkin explained.

She went on to add that she thinks Alana and her man are "on the same wavelength."

At this time, it is unclear how Alana and Dralin met.
